                            NAAD (नाद)

The melodious sound which is composed of consistent and fixed vibrations is called a NAAD .In other words, musical pleasant sound is called a NAAD .In music these types of sounds are used .Sound used in music have a fixed and melodious vibration .Sound which are irregular and unpleasant are not useful in the context of music and so cannot be named as NAAD.

Scientists claim that no NAAD can be produced as an isolated NAAD.There are some other sounds generated along with the original NAAD.These are called Auxiliary (सहायकNAAD. Separating Auxiliary NAAD from the original Naad Only by listening is an extremely difficult task.

The number and generation of Auxiliary Naad varies from one instrument to another. Thus the same note produces different sound in different musical instruments .This is called the category and quality of naad.It is because of this quality that we can differentiate between several instrument by listening even when our eyes are closed.

In everyday life we can easily identify who is calling out our name without looking at them. The reason being that every person has a different voice.Similarly we can identify one instrument from another because of NAAD.
